Ayr (original) railway station : ウィキペディア英語版 | Ayr (original) railway station
Ayr railway station was a railway station serving the town of Ayr, South Ayrshire, Scotland. The station was originally part of the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway. == History == The station opened on 5 August 1839.〔Butt, p. 22〕 The line continued after this station over the River Ayr to serve Ayr Harbour. The station closed to passengers on 1 July 1857 upon being replaced by the new Ayr Townhead station.〔 The railway however continued to be used by goods traffic that would access the south side of the harbour after the station was closed. Today almost nothing of the station remains. The stone blocks that held up the bridge to the harbour can still be seen in the River Ayr, but the bridge itself is gone. The bridge was removed in 1978.
